VetRide Bendigo 2015 – Bulletin – 10/3/2015 – Trail Rides
Overview
These rides are based on popular trail rides around Bendigo. They trails are mostly hard pack surface (fine gravel, some tarmac) although the last day has an option to kick off with easy 4WD track if you wish. All routes have short cuts. All routes start on the rail trail just 50m from Parklane tourist park.
Friday 19th O’Keefe Rail Trail
Out & back, an easy 35k total and a great intro to the weekend. Option to continue for up to 8k on new extension towards Heathcote. Option to return via 4WD trails through Wellsford State Forest. Axedale has a transport café, pub + coffee house and lovely riverside picnic area. For more info see www.digbig.com/5bkttd
Saturday 20th Bush & Blocks
Anti-clockwise, 34km along popular suburban mainly off-road cycling trails then a mix of bushland and suburbia roads and trails. An alternate route near the end avoids a few km of 4WD tracks.
Sunday 21st Blues Trails
43km of easy creek and reservoir trails into the deep south. Optional 4WD loop for those wanting a bit more nature. No shortage of cafes on this route. Return same way or via yesterday’s last quarter. www.digbig.com/5bktte for part of this route.
Monday 22nd Go North young (wo)man!
To the north, 24km either out & back on rail and creek trails or head into the bush for a while on 4WD tracks and back via creek & rail trails. Either way it is a comfortable final ride to have you thinking on the drive home about VetRide 2016!

VetRide Bendigo 2015 – Bulletin – 8/3/2015 – Road Rides
The time is getting closer for the VetRide Bendigo weekend – please see the below details of the road rides that have been provided to us by Ken Dowling of MapSport:
Overview of Road Rides
These rides are based on popular rides of Bendigo road riders. Tweaked to take in pleasant lunch stops and places of interest. Days 1 to 3 are rolling terrain. Day 1 has two short sharp climbs and descents and Day 2 has one.
Friday 19th Harcourt
Clockwise, 83km around the base of Leanganook (Mt Alexander) at the far end of the route. Stopping off at the bike friendly Tread Café in Harcourt where Andy and Paula make you welcome along with a contingent from Castlemaine Vietnam Veterans. See menu at www.treadharcourt.com.au
Saturday 20th Mandurang
Clockwise, 68km traversing highly popular ride roads through the geographic centre of Victoria. A short steeper incline takes you to the art deco Morris Minor Garage and café which we have to ourselves. Bill is a great host and enjoys his role. www.morrisminorgarage.com
Sunday 21st Eppalock
Anti-clockwise, 83km and into new landscapes. A roller coaster of a ride at the foot of the route brings you towards Lake Eppalock and a break at the kiosk and pleasant picnic area just as the route turns towards home.
Monday 22nd Bendigo Bush & Blocks
Anti-clockwise, a 31km wind down along popular suburban cycling roads and into a mix of bushland and suburbia towards the end of the ride. Then it is cheerio and homeward bound until next year.
